Assistance for Convoys in the Gulf of Aden
Noonsite has been contacted by the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), stationed on Camp Lemonier in Djibouti Africa, who would like to be kept informed of convoys passing through.
The CJTF-HOA is a component of the United States response to the September 11, 2001 attacks, focusing its efforts on conducting unified action in the combined joint operations area of the Horn of Africa to prevent conflict, promote regional stability, and protect Coalition interests in order to prevail against extremism.
The CJTF-HOA collaborates and has long standing relationships with international naval task forces as well as partner nations including Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Yemen. The CJTF-HOA is able to access the Maritime Safety and Security Information System which leverages AIS technology allowing for Maritime Domain Awareness in parts of the Gulf of Aden.
If you are transiting through Bab El Mandeb or the Gulf of Aden region and are interested in checking in with the CJTF-HOA, please contact:
The Maritime Security and Safety Officer LCDR Brett Morash USN
At brett.j.morash@hoa.centcom.mil or brett.j.morash@hoa.africom.mil
or commercial +253-358-978.
Please include details of your departure point, date of departure, destination, number of yachts in convoy etc.
CJTF-HOA is attempting to use any information available to share with fellow naval forces, and partner nations in the Gulf of Aden to enhance security.

To view an excellent graphic of pirate attacks in the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean off the East Coast of Somalia, supplied by the US Navy, go to the Cruiser Log Website. This does require registering for free with the website. The map and information will be updated shortly to bring the last 3 months activities into the picture. Our thanks to Richard Donaldson-Alves for sending us this link.
Hi,
Your news article about "Assistance for Convoys in the Gulf of Aden" was a new light on the subject and a move forward for convoys through this area. I sent a message of thanks off to LCMDR Brett Morash for getting something done and I would encourage others to respond in a similar manner, so as to let him and others know that their effort are not in vain. Also to Noonsite for their actions.
